Supporting Our Local Community

How many times a year do people ask you to sponsor their charitable activities? It’s all good, but we think it’s even better when the activities are specifically targeting the needy within our own local communities. When Emma and Will supported a Wave 105 FM Cash for Kids charity event which took place in our local Sainsbury’s last weekend, many of the kind people who put donations in our charity bucket said they felt the same.

Wave 105 FM Cash for Kids is committed to supporting local children under the age of 18, who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged.  The fundraising is used to encourage healthy lifestyle options by promoting physical, mental and general wellbeing of children and adolescents specifically within the Wave 105 region.

Michael Coombes did all the hard work, of course, racking up 50 miles on the static bike. Will, who was mostly rattling the cash bucket all morning by Sainsbury’s tills, did manage to jump on the bike in Michael’s breaks and contributed 3 miles (in his jeans and jumper, he reminds us).

“With your help we managed to raise a cracking £350” Michael Coombes, Broadcast Journalist.

And so, to the next local fundraising event. Bryony, Rachel, Ana, Emma and Carole will be joining 25,000 runners, athletes and celebrities at the BUPA Great South Run on Sunday 26th October, the world’s premier 10 mile running event and once again Wave 105 is proud to be the Official Radio Station partner!
