Online Draw Success; Draw with a Twist

Press Release - Romsey Advertiser
Friday 1st May 2009

With Digital marketing becoming a large part of businesses marketing plans, Solutions 4 Recruitment were thinking of innovative ways to combine this with their fundraising activities to raise money for Naomi House children’s hospice. The local Marketing, PR and Design recruitment agency have spent the last two weeks raising money for the charity by selling tickets for a draw they have organised; but it wasn’t any ordinary draw.

They had heaps of fantastic prizes donated from local businesses in and around Bishops Waltham from big brand names such as Fat Face, Animal and Sunsail to unique prizes from boutique shops in Bishops Waltham such as Tashinga, H.W Veck and Barrington’s Deli.

Solutions 4 Recruitment have a large database full of Marketing, PR and Design clients and candidates so they decided the best way to get them involved was to create an online draw where location was no issue. Naomi House had not had anyone raise money for them in this way before and it was a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness about Naomi House and allow local businesses to do their bit to support them.

Solutions 4 Recruitment are an independent Marketing, PR and Design recruitment specialist in the South offering permanent, contract and temporary positions. They raised over £300 for the charity and are already in training for their next fundraising initiative, when the whole team will be running the Great South Run in October.

For more information on how to raise money for Naomi House please telephone 01962 843513.

Press Release - Hampshire Chronicle
Thursday 18th December 2008

Solutions 4 Recruitment decided that this Christmas, instead of spending their Christmas budget on Christmas cards to valued clients they would donate the money to the local Charity 'Naomi House'. Naomi House is a children’s hospice providing respite care, terminal care and bereavement support for children and families from across the south of England. As a local business to the charity, Solutions 4 Recruitment wanted to start supporting them by donating money for Christmas but they also intend to do a number of fundraising activities throughout 2009.

Work / Life balance more important to us than salary say job-hunting marketers

Press Release
Thursday 14th June 2007

Flexible working and a better work/life balance is more important to marketing professionals looking for new jobs than a high salary, new research tells. And employers and agencies looking to attract high-level candidates from London need to examine their overall lifestyle and benefits package if they want to appeal to the best new recruits.

Sophie Adkins, senior consultant at south coast marketing, pr and design agency Solutions 4 Recruitment who conducted the research with current candidates, said that a general skills shortage means that good pr and marketing people are in huge demand, and although salaries in London are high, many professionals are looking for employers who can offer them an improved lifestyle to tempt them away from the stress of the city.

Sophie said: “People are being encouraged to find a better work/life balance everywhere – by Doctors, life coaches, newspapers and magazines, and they are taking notice. Many professionals see long commutes to the office and working silly hours away from the family and home as a bit ‘1980s’ and totally unnecessary in this day and age.

“With new technologies such as e-mail, Internet and video conferencing in every day use, they can now work just as effectively at home, and enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle that enables them to ditch the commute, look after children or devote more time to hobbies and other commitments. And they are telling us this is more important to them than earning lots of money.

“Marketing and pr in particular is fairly project led work, which lends itself to flexible working. Good people are in demand, so it’s logical that they are opting for employers who offer the lifestyle that they are after. Local companies and agencies need to listen to what people want and revamp their packages accordingly.”

Forward thinking businesses and agencies in the South are already offering packages that take the trend for a better work/life balance into account.

Sophie continues: “Clients such as B&Q, Friends Provident and Remarkable Marketing Agency offer employees the opportunity to work flexible hours. Our candidates love the prospect! It makes them feel valued, and that their life outside of work is important to their employer. As a result, they are more productive and motivated to go the extra mile for their bosses.”

Research by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development bears this out. Its recent study showed flexible working had a positive effect on employees, but less than a third of the companies surveyed offered it.

Sophie concludes: “There are still businesses who need to think more creatively about what package they offer. Companies outside of London can’t offer the same city living and Fortune 500 clients to work with, and so need to think about what they can provide that will win the attention of the best candidates. It’s all about lifestyle. Are employees guaranteed parking, flexible working, and/or an office that is ten minutes from the countryside or the beach? If so, that’s an attractive prospect to people who want to get away from the grime of the city. Employers need to think outside of the box and put together a package tailored towards finding a better work/life balance. If they don’t many professionals will just discount their organisations from their job search altogether.”

Business Profile - Carole Clarke

Press Release - The News
Tuesday 10th July 2007

Name: Carole Clarke
Age: 49
Job title: Managing director, Solutions 4 Recruitment
Job description: Running Solutions 4 Recruitment, a marketing, pr and design agency based in Bishops Waltham.

How did you get into your profession, why and when? When I left college I took a job with a recruitment consultancy, figuring it would give me the opportunity to learn more about sales and communications in a lively environment.

I thrived on getting to know clients well, learning what they really needed for their business and matching them with the right candidates. I re-located to the south coast originally to live near friends in Dorset, but realised most of the recruitment jobs were in Hampshire. I eventually transferred to Southampton and go to know the Hampshire recruitment market really well.

I realised there was a gap in the market for a recruitment consultancy that focussed on finding and placing marketing, design and pr professionals. I started Solutions 4 Recruitment in 1999.

What do you enjoy most about it? There is nothing better than really getting to know a client, discovering what they really want in a recruit - you'd be surprised what isn't on the initial job spec - and finding exactly the right candidate to meet their needs. Good people are the foundation of any great company and it's exciting to play a part in moving their business forward in that way. Working with our candidates is exciting too.

What do you find most difficult about it? Breaking the news to a candidate that they haven't got the job they wanted. We always focus on the positive and see what they can take away from the experience, get feedback so they know how to improve in the future, and we try to remain as philosophical as possible. We help them pick themselves up, build their confidence again, and move on to the next opportunity.

 Press Release - 29th July 2010

 BIKE 4 BRAS!

The team from Solutions 4 Recruitment are cycling around the Isle of Wight in July to collect the Island’s unwanted and discarded bras, in aid of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

On July  10 and 11, the team of 5 women, more used to finding jobs for PR, Marketing and Design specialists in the south, will be saddling up and cycling around various shops on the island who have been supporting the air ambulance’s Bag A Bra campaign. And there is only one way to carry the many bras they collect – draped on the bikes, worn by the cyclists themselves and even attached to their helmets, flapping in the breeze!

Melanie from Solutions4 Recruitment said: “Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are our chosen charity for the year and we have already raised over £1,000 for them. This is such an important cause for us and we want to shout about what we are doing to encourage others to see how important the Air Ambulance is and adopt them as their chosen charity.”

Melanie adds, “HIOWAA first became important to me last year when a good friend fell off her horse and broke her back, she was in the middle of some woodland, a mile from the road. The speed of the Air Ambulance enabled her to get to hospital and be treated within a very short time frame.”
